Newway Import Inc., based in La Puente, California, has announced a recall of its "Preserved Mustard in Soybean Oil" under the Cai Hua Xiang brand due to the presence of undeclared wheat. The product was distributed for sale in retail grocery stores across California from early July 2025 through early November 2025.
The recall affects packages marked with lot code 505202008 and a Best By date of May 20, 2026. The codes can be found on the package. The issue was discovered when it was found that the product contained wheat, which was not listed as an allergen on the packaging.
According to Newway Import Inc., "People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to with a wheat run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product." No illnesses related to the consumption of this product have been reported at this time.
