Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a call with Organization of American States (OAS) Secretary General Albert Ramdin to discuss the OAS Secretariat’s efforts to promote stability in the region, with particular attention to Venezuela. According to Principal Deputy Spokesperson Tommy Pigott, Secretary Rubio expressed appreciation for the OAS providing a space for open and constructive dialogue.
The conversation highlighted the importance of the OAS remaining focused on challenges facing Venezuela. Secretary Rubio emphasized the value of Member State-driven engagement within the organization as a way to support an orderly transition of power in Venezuela.
"Secretary Rubio reiterated the importance of the OAS as a forum for Member State-driven engagement to support a proper, judicious transition of power in Venezuela," said Pigott.
The discussion reflects ongoing diplomatic efforts by both U.S. and regional leaders through multilateral organizations such as the OAS.
