Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau met with Canadian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs David Morrison to address several shared concerns. The meeting focused on border security, regional relations in the Western Hemisphere, and coordination for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
During their discussion, Deputy Secretary Landau acknowledged Canada's ongoing involvement in Haiti and noted progress made on the Gang Suppression Force initiative. Both officials reaffirmed that their countries share similar interests and emphasized the importance of continued collaboration to achieve mutual objectives.
"The Deputy Secretary and the Deputy Minister reaffirmed the general alignment of interests between the two countries and the importance of working together to advance these common goals," according to Principal Deputy Spokesperson Tommy Pigott.
