U.S. Senators Ted Cruz and John Cornyn, both Republicans from Texas, have issued statements supporting President Trump's announcement of two judicial nominations for the Western District of Texas. Christopher Wolfe has been nominated to serve as District Judge in the Waco Division, while Andrew Davis is nominated for the Austin Division.

Senator Cruz stated, “I applaud President Trump’s decision to nominate Andrew Davis and Chris Wolfe as U.S. District Judges in Texas. Andrew previously served as my Chief Counsel, and I am confident that both he and Chris will make excellent district judges who will uphold the integrity of the law to the highest degree. I look forward to their swift confirmation.”

Senator Cornyn commented, “I am proud to support President Trump’s nominations of Christopher Wolfe and Andrew Davis to serve as federal judges in Waco and Austin, respectively. Judge Wolfe has a proven track record of upholding the rule of law as a State District Judge in Fort Worth, while Mr. Davis has a wealth of experience in the legal field, from his service to the Senate Judiciary Committee to his time as Assistant Solicitor General for the State of Texas. I was honored to join Senator Cruz in recommending both Texans to serve on the federal bench, and I urge my colleagues to join us in supporting their nominations.”

The two senators recommended these nominees after an evaluation process conducted by the bipartisan Federal Judicial Evaluation Committee (FJEC). The FJEC was established by Sens. Cornyn and Cruz as a panel composed of leading attorneys from Texas tasked with identifying qualified candidates for judicial vacancies through application reviews and interviews.

Ted Cruz recently secured reelection victories over Democratic challengers Colin Allred in 2024, Beto O'Rourke in 2018, and Paul Sadler in 2012.
