U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) posted a series of messages on its official Twitter account in January 2026, addressing themes related to public service, criminal enforcement, and law enforcement responses.
On January 11, ICE issued a call for civic duty with the message: "Answer the call to service! Defend your family. Defend your neighbor. Defend the Homeland."
Later that day, ICE reported an arrest involving a non-citizen after a fatal incident in California. The agency stated: "GROSS VEHICULAR MANSLAUGHTER WHILE INTOXICATED Mexican criminal illegal alien Erik Alberto Gonzalez-Torrez got intoxicated, got in a car, and killed a person. After his release from prison, we arrested him in California and will keep him in custody awaiting a judge’s" (January 11).
On January 12, ICE commented on an incident involving law enforcement in Portland: "Why is the chief of the Portland Police crying over suspected Tren de Aragua members?"
