Tallahassee man indicted on federal child pornography charges

Jason R. Coody, U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Florida

Cedrick Campbell, a 35-year-old resident of Tallahassee, Florida, has been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges related to child pornography. The indictment includes one count of transportation of child pornography and one count of possession or access with intent to view child pornography, according to John P. Heekin, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida.

Campbell made his initial appearance before United States Magistrate Judge Martin A. Fitzpatrick on January 5, 2026, at the United States Courthouse in Tallahassee. His trial is scheduled for March 2, 2026, before District Court Judge Robert L. Hinkle.

If convicted on both counts, Campbell could face up to 20 years in prison for each charge.

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Tallahassee Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Meredith L. Steer is prosecuting the case.

An official statement clarified: "An indictment is merely an allegation by a grand jury that a defendant has committed a violation of federal criminal law and is not evidence of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent and entitled to a fair trial, during which it will be the government’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt at trial."

This prosecution is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse nationwide. The program brings together resources from federal, state, and local agencies to pursue individuals who exploit children online and to identify and rescue victims.
