The Subcommittee on Economic Development, Public Buildings, and Emergency Management will hold a hearing to review the implementation of reforms made to economic development programs under the Thomas R. Carper Water Resources Development Act of 2024. The hearing is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. ET on Wednesday, January 22, 2026, at the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, D.C.
Chairman Scott Perry (R-PA) announced that the session aims to assess how these reforms are being put into practice. The focus will be on reducing duplication and ensuring that federal spending on economic development yields effective results.
The witness list includes Mr. Ben Page, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Economic Development and Chief Operating Officer at the United States Economic Development Administration; The Honorable Gayle Conelly Manchin, Federal Co-Chair of the Appalachian Regional Commission; The Honorable Corey Wiggins, Federal Co-Chair of the Delta Regional Authority; The Honorable Chris Saunders, Federal Co-Chair of the Northern Border Regional Commission; The Honorable Jennifer Clyburn Reed, Federal Co-Chair of the Southeast Crescent Regional Commission; The Honorable Juan Sanchez, Federal Co-Chair of the Southwest Border Regional Commission; and Ms. Jocelyn Fenton, Director of Programs at the Denali Commission.
