Ohio man pleads guilty to distributing fentanyl in West Virginia

Roderick Tyrone Boyd, a 30-year-old resident of Vandalia, Ohio, has pleaded guilty to charges involving the distribution of fentanyl and aiding and abetting its distribution. The plea was entered in federal court on January 21, 2026.

Court records show that Boyd participated in two separate incidents in Cross Lanes, West Virginia. On March 26, 2025, he assisted another person with the sale of fentanyl. A month later, on April 26, 2025, he distributed fentanyl himself.

Boyd is set for sentencing on May 19, 2026. He could face up to 20 years in prison, at least three years of supervised release after his sentence ends, and a fine as high as $1 million.

United States Attorney Moore Capito commented on the case: "United States Attorney Moore Capito made the announcement and commended the investigative work of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)."

The hearing was overseen by Senior United States District Judge David A. Faber. Assistant United States Attorney JC MacCallum is prosecuting.
