U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reported the arrest of several individuals described as "the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens" over the weekend. The arrests took place while much of the country was affected by a historic winter storm.
A spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) stated, “While millions of Americans hunkered down during the historic winter storm, the heroic men and women of ICE did not let the cold or snow stop them from arresting the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens terrorizing our communities. Some of the sickos arrested over the weekend include murderers, registered sex offenders, and drug traffickers. Among those arrested were individuals convicted of serious crimes such as murder, sexual assault against minors, drug trafficking, burglary, robbery, and unlawful transport of firearms. The list includes:
- Matilde Flores-Najera from Mexico, convicted for murder in Dallas County, Texas.
- Ismael Alvarez-Guerra from Mexico, a registered sex offender convicted for oral copulation with a minor under 10 in Los Angeles.
- Johanns Cuadros-Almanza from Peru, a registered sex offender convicted for aggravated criminal sexual contact in Essex County, New Jersey.
- David Canales-Palma from Honduras, convicted for second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor in North Carolina.
- Rafael Agustin Soto-Baez from Dominican Republic, convicted on eight counts related to distribution and dispensing fentanyl in Massachusetts.
- Frantz Joseph from Haiti, convicted for assault with intent to commit sexual abuse in Iowa.
- Carlos Cuenca-Vera from Ecuador, convicted for criminal sexual act in White Plains, New York.
- Joel Prudente-Mayares from Mexico, convicted for assault with a deadly weapon in Riverside County, California.
- Jose Garcia-Pineda from Honduras, convicted for assaulting a family member in Houston.
- Edith Lizbeth Osorio-Alvarez from Mexico, convicted for importation of methamphetamine and aiding and abetting in Southern California.
- Hugo Alexander Campos Bonilla from Guatemala was convicted for burglary and stalking in Los Angeles.
- Herber Leonel Enrique-Ramos from El Salvador was found guilty of second-degree robbery and battery charges in California counties.
- Andreh Ismaiel Bolandi and Farshad Ghiassi from Iran were both arrested; Bolandi was convicted for manufacturing controlled substances while Ghiassi was found guilty of unlawful transport of firearms.
- Francisco Montano-De Paz from El Salvador was sentenced after being found guilty on burglary charges in Florida.
According to ICE data referenced by DHS officials during this announcement, approximately 70% of all ICE arrests involve non-citizens who have been charged or convicted with crimes within the United States.
