Today, the NFIB Texas PAC announced its endorsement of 97 incumbent state legislators for re-election, including 11 members of the Senate and 86 from the House of Representatives. The PAC is made up solely of NFIB members from Texas.
NFIB State Director Jeff Burdett stated, "Texas is strong because of the unbridled entrepreneurial spirit of its small business owners. It is important for voters to elect candidates who will support our small businesses. Each of these 97 incumbents understand that sound policy, like cutting red-tape and easing small business owners’ tax burdens, allows Main Street Texans to do what they do best: meet their customers’ needs, create good-paying jobs, and invest in our communities."
He continued, "On behalf of our approximately 20,000 members across the state, I’m proud to announce these endorsements and ask all Texas voters to support pro-small business candidates."
The announcement comes ahead of several key election dates. The voter registration deadline is Monday, February 2. Early voting runs from February 17 through February 27. Primary Election Day is scheduled for Tuesday, March 3. To help ensure participation in state and federal elections, NFIB has launched a new comprehensive Voting Hub.
According to the organization, an endorsement from the NFIB Texas PAC can play a significant role in campaigns since small business owners and their employees tend to vote in large numbers and often encourage others to vote as well.
NFIB says its political support is based on candidates’ records and positions on issues important to small businesses.
A full list of endorsed candidates was provided by district for both chambers. Some endorsed legislators are also noted as NFIB members.
