U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich, the Ranking Member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, is set to host a roundtable discussion in Washington, D.C., on January 29, 2026. The event will focus on the impact of Trump administration policies on energy costs for working families.
The roundtable will include several U.S. Senators: Catherine Cortez Masto, John Hickenlooper, Alex Padilla, Angus King, Peter Welch, Sheldon Whitehouse (Ranking Member of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee), Jack Reed, and Brian Schatz. Also participating are union representatives such as Patrick Crowley, President of Rhode Island AFL-CIO; Alfonso “Fonze” Martinez, Business Manager of IBEW Local Union 611; Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard of Mt. Vernon, New York; Mark Wolfe from the National Energy Assistance Directors Association; Paula Glover from Alliance to Save Energy; Ari Matusiak from Rewiring America; and Scott Libby from Royal River Heat Pumps.
According to Senator Heinrich’s office: "Today...will host a roundtable with an elected official, union representatives, and national and local electrification and efficiency advocates to discuss how the Trump administration’s policies — from stalling permits of more than 500 clean energy projects to sunsetting critical investments that make energy cheaper for consumers — have raised utility costs on working families."
The event is scheduled at the U.S. Capitol with media availability following the discussion. A livestream will be accessible through ENR Democrats' social media platforms at the time of the event.
