U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has received the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Seven Seals Award, which recognizes organizations that support Reserve Service members in their civilian workplaces. The award was presented at a ceremony on January 16 in Jacksonville, Florida, where representatives from CBP’s National Recruitment and Law Enforcement Divisions accepted the honor.
The ESGR Seven Seals Award is given to individuals and organizations that foster supportive work environments for members of the National Guard and Reserve. CBP’s recognition reflects its ongoing efforts to provide flexible schedules, time off before and after deployments, and continued benefits during periods of military service.
"By providing flexible schedules, including time off before and after deployments, and maintaining benefits during periods of service, CBP ensures that military service members can balance their civilian careers with their military duties. This flexibility and support empower Guard and Reserve members to carry out their duties without sacrificing their professional growth or personal wellbeing," according to the agency.
Currently, more than 2,000 active Guard and Reserve members are part of CBP’s workforce. The agency states these employees contribute valuable skills that strengthen its mission to protect U.S. borders.
CBP has previously been recognized for its commitment to veterans and military families. In 2025, it was named one of Military.com’s Top 25 Employers for Veterans as well as a Top Employer for Military Spouses—the only federal agency to receive both distinctions.
"CBP’s policies and programs accommodate the realities of military life, including training, deployments, and other service commitments for its service members. With that perspective embedded in its approach, CBP provides guidance on employment benefits, health resources and assistance with military-earned benefits to ensure that service members and their families have the tools they need to thrive," according to the organization.
CBP employs over 67,000 people who work across land borders, airspace, and maritime areas enforcing laws related to travel and trade while aiming to secure national economic interests.
