A federal grand jury in Wichita has indicted Janice Mae Brown, 39, of Russell, Kansas, on a charge of acquiring a controlled substance by deception. Prosecutors allege that Brown, who worked as a pharmacy technician, used her position to take amphetamine (Adderall) and methylphenidate (Ritalin) from the pharmacy’s inventory without proper authorization. The alleged activity is said to have occurred over an unspecified period and continued through March 2025.

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is handling the investigation into Brown’s case.

The same grand jury also returned indictments in two other cases. Miguel De La Cruz, 22, identified as a Guatemalan national living illegally in Arkansas City, was charged with resisting, opposing, impeding, and interfering with a federal officer. Jose Garcia-Villa, 43, described as a Mexican national residing illegally in the United States, was indicted for illegal reentry after deportation. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) is conducting investigations into both cases.

Authorities emphasized: "An indictment is merely an allegation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law."
