Mexican national sentenced for unlawful reentry in Oklahoma

Jose Luis Jimenez-Hernandez, a 45-year-old Mexican national, was sentenced to time served for unlawful reentry into the United States. The sentencing took place in Muskogee, Oklahoma, following an investigation by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement Division.

Jimenez-Hernandez pleaded guilty on September 15, 2025. Investigators reported that he was found in Tahlequah, Oklahoma on July 24, 2025 without authorization from the Secretary of Homeland Security to reapply for admission after being previously removed from the United States on three occasions: January 10, 2012; June 14, 2013; and October 25, 2013.

The case is part of Operation Take Back America. According to the press release, this initiative aims to use all available resources of the Department of Justice to address illegal immigration and combat transnational criminal organizations.

The hearing was overseen by U.S. District Judge Robert J. Shelby from the District of Utah, who presided by assignment in Muskogee. Assistant U.S. Attorney Erin Cornell represented the government during sentencing.
