Mexican national sentenced in Oklahoma federal court for unlawful reentry

Ivone Monforte Leal, also known as Yvonne Monforte and Ivonne Monforte Stefany, a 34-year-old Mexican national, has been sentenced to time served for unlawful reentry into the United States. The sentencing was announced by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.

Leal was found in Wagoner County, Oklahoma after having previously been removed from the United States on two separate occasions. According to investigators from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement Division and the Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office, Leal did not have consent from the Secretary of Homeland Security to reapply for admission.

On May 22, 2025, Leal pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful reentry of a removed alien. The case falls under Operation Take Back America, which is described as "a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime."

The sentencing hearing took place in Muskogee, Oklahoma with U.S. District Judge Robert J. Shelby presiding by assignment from Utah. Assistant U.S. Attorney T. Cameron McEwen represented the government during sentencing.
