Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau met with Kazakhstan Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev after Secretary Rubio’s first Critical Minerals Ministerial. The meeting focused on expanding trade and investment in critical minerals exploration, mining, and processing. Both officials discussed the importance of regional connectivity and secure supply chains.
According to Principal Deputy Spokesperson Tommy Pigott, “Deputy Secretary Landau and Foreign Minister Kosherbayev underscored the importance of the U.S.-Kazakhstan strategic partnership in fostering economic growth and creating new opportunities for both nations.” The United States continues to support Kazakhstan’s regional integration efforts, including through the C5+1 diplomatic platform. This initiative involves cooperation between the United States and five Central Asian countries: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
The discussions reflect ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and promote economic development between the two countries.
