Chief Michael W. Banks, Chief of the United States Border Patrol, shared updates on several recent enforcement actions in a series of tweets posted on February 7, 2026.
In his first post, Banks reported an incident involving a Guatemalan national in Los Angeles. He wrote on February 7: "A Guatemalan national arrested during a targeted enforcement operation in Los Angeles, CA thought it was a good idea to strike a Border Patrol Agent. Not only is he getting deported, but he also now faces federal assault charges! We will not tolerate violence against our Border".
Later that day, Banks highlighted a drug seizure in California. On February 7, he tweeted: "Another major blow to drug trafficking organizations! Border Patrol Agents in San Diego Sector intercepted nearly 64 lbs. of fentanyl valued at $464,000. Working alongside HSI, agents ensured the driver, vehicle, and narcotics were transferred for prosecution, reinforcing our".
In another update posted the same evening regarding law enforcement operations in Texas, Banks stated: "USBP SOG, working in coordination with the Texas Rangers and DEA, arrested an international drug trafficker in Midland, TX on a federal arrest warrant. The individual was the subject of an INTERPOL Red Notice for involvement in smuggling over 27 tons of cocaine, terrorism,".
