Representatives from the U.S. Treasury and regulatory agencies met with their UK counterparts in London on January 26, 2026, as part of the Transatlantic Taskforce for Markets of the Future. The event was hosted by HM Treasury and focused on strengthening ties between capital markets in both countries and exploring collaboration on digital assets.
According to a statement from the organizers, "This engagement is part of the Taskforce’s efforts to seek input from industry partners to ensure that its work is informed by what matters most to industry on both sides of the Atlantic." The discussions included participation from senior-level industry representatives who provided insights and feedback.
The Taskforce was established in September 2025 during President Trump’s state visit to the UK. Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent and Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves created this initiative to build upon longstanding financial connections between the United States and United Kingdom.
"We thank all participants for the dynamic discussions and insights," said officials involved with the meeting.
Looking ahead, further joint engagements are planned in the United States later this month. The Taskforce intends to deliver recommendations through the UK-U.S. Financial Regulatory Working Group by summer 2026.
