Fort Mill man indicted for alleged straw purchase of firearm

A federal grand jury has indicted Gregory L. Tischuk, 65, of Fort Mill, for allegedly making a straw purchase of a firearm in April 2024. According to the indictment, Tischuk is accused of lying on the Firearms Transaction Record Form 4473 when buying a firearm from a large retailer. The form requires buyers to confirm that they are purchasing the firearm for themselves.

If convicted, Tischuk could face up to 10 years in prison, a fine of $250,000, and up to three years of supervised release in addition to any term of imprisonment. There is also a special assessment of $100. Tischuk has been released on bond while awaiting further proceedings.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney William K. Witherspoon is handling the prosecution.

“All charges in the indictment are merely accusations and defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.”
