Slade Gorton & Co., Inc. has announced a recall of one lot of Wellsley Farms Farm-Raised Atlantic Salmon due to the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes. The affected product was sold in 2-pound bags at BJ’s Wholesale Club locations in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Virginia between January 31 and February 7, 2026.
The company stated that healthy individuals infected with Listeria may experience symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. However, they also noted that “Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women. If you have symptoms of Listeria infection, consult a health care provider.” According to Slade Gorton & Co., Inc., there have been no reported illnesses related to this recall.
The recalled salmon is identified by UPC code 888670025963 and lot number 3896. Both numbers are printed on the back of the bag below the cooking instructions and Nutrition Facts panel.
The contamination was discovered after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration randomly collected a sample that tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes. Slade Gorton & Co., Inc. is investigating how the contamination occurred and implementing measures to prevent it from happening again.
BJ’s Wholesale Club is contacting members who may have purchased the recalled salmon directly. Consumers who believe they bought the affected product are advised to call 1-888-628-0730 for information about obtaining a full refund and handling any remaining product.
