The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has finalized a consent order requiring Adamas Amenity Services LLC and its affiliated businesses to stop enforcing no-hire agreements. The FTC said these agreements prevented building owners and management companies in New Jersey and New York City from hiring workers who were employed by Adamas, unless they paid a significant penalty.

According to the FTC’s complaint, these no-hire agreements limited workers’ ability to seek higher wages, better benefits, or improved working conditions. The final consent order requires Adamas to immediately end all existing no-hire agreements and notify customers and employees that such agreements are now void. The order also includes compliance and monitoring measures for the next ten years.

After a public comment period, the Commission approved the final order with a 2-0 vote.

“The Federal Trade Commission works to promote competition, and to protect and educate consumers. The FTC will never demand money, make threats, tell you to transfer money, or promise you a prize.
