A Mexican national, Isidro Gonzalez-Peleaz, was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Bangor for illegally reentering the United States after previous removals. Judge John A. Woodcock, Jr. sentenced Gonzalez-Peleaz, 41, to time served. He had been held since November 11, 2025.

Court records show that a Border Patrol agent encountered Gonzalez-Peleaz and his brother, Alfredo Gonzalez-Peleaz, as they were leaving a jobsite in Calais in November 2025. The agent conducted an immigration inspection and determined both men were Mexican citizens without legal documentation to be in the country. Immigration records revealed that Isidro Gonzalez-Peleaz had been removed from the United States four times: in November 2006 at Brownsville, Texas; December 2012 and March 2013 at Calexico, California; and August 2018 at San Luis, Arizona.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection led the investigation into the case. Alfredo Gonzalez-Peleaz also received a sentence of time served earlier on the same day from Judge Woodcock.

The case is part of Operation Take Back America, described as "a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime."
