A man from Window Rock has been charged in federal court following an alleged stabbing incident. Court documents state that on June 17, 2025, Jacoby Edo Begay, 20, a member of the Navajo Nation, is accused of assaulting John Doe with a knife. The attack reportedly caused serious injuries to the victim.
Begay faces federal charges for assault with a dangerous weapon and assault resulting in serious bodily injury. If found guilty, he could receive a prison sentence of up to ten years.
First Assistant U.S. Attorney Ryan Ellison and Justin A. Garris, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Albuquerque Field Office, announced the charges.
The case was investigated by the Gallup Resident Agency of the FBI’s Albuquerque Field Office with support from the Navajo Nation Police Department and the Navajo Nation Department of Criminal Investigations. Assistant U.S. Attorney Amy Mondragon is prosecuting.
An indictment or criminal complaint is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
