U.S. Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee Chairman Ted Cruz (R-Texas) has sent letters to national sports organizations, asking them to confirm that they are following President Trump’s executive order and eligibility rules intended to prevent men from competing in women’s sports.
These policies state that women’s sports should be limited to women, and prohibit biological males from participating in women’s divisions. Senator Cruz cautioned the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic National Governing Bodies (NGBs) that not following these requirements could lead to decertification by the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) and Congress. This could also prevent NGBs and athletes from representing the United States in future international competitions.
