Former bookkeeper receives probation for embezzlement from New Orleans employer

Belinda Martin, a 51-year-old resident of New Orleans, has been sentenced for access device fraud after stealing more than $1,000 from her employer between 2022 and 2023. According to court documents, Martin used her company’s access device accounts to embezzle funds and other items of value.

U.S. District Judge Darrel James Papillion sentenced Martin on February 10, 2026, to five years of probation. She was also ordered to pay a mandatory special assessment fee of $100 and restitution totaling $63,112.87.

U.S. Attorney David I. Courcelle commented on the case, stating: "I commend the Federal Bureau of Investigation for their work in investigating this matter." The prosecution was led by Assistant United States Attorney Richard R. Pickens II from the Financial Crimes Unit.
