Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with Paraguayan President Santiago Peña during the Board of Peace meeting in Washington, D.C., according to Principal Deputy Spokesperson Tommy Pigott.
During their discussion, Secretary Rubio thanked President Peña for his leadership in the region and emphasized the strong partnership between the United States and Paraguay. The Secretary acknowledged ongoing efforts by Paraguay to make its investment environment more favorable for U.S. investors. He also expressed appreciation for Paraguay’s support in addressing narcoterrorism and enhancing security across the hemisphere.
Both leaders agreed to maintain close cooperation on issues that are important to both countries.
