A Hope Hull resident has been sentenced to nearly six years in federal prison for stealing firearms from a gun store in Montgomery, Alabama. According to Acting United States Attorney Kevin Davidson, 22-year-old Ethan Daniel Turner received a 70-month sentence after admitting his involvement in the June 2025 burglary of a federally licensed firearms dealer.
The incident occurred just after midnight on June 29, 2025, when law enforcement responded to an alarm at a sporting goods store on North Eastern Boulevard. Officers discovered that the front doors had been forced open with a vehicle. Two suspects fled the scene in another car, leading police on a high-speed chase that ended when the vehicle stopped and the occupants escaped on foot. Turner was later apprehended and identified as one of those involved.
Turner pleaded guilty to possession of a stolen firearm and theft of a firearm from a federal firearms licensee. He admitted to stealing two rifles and a shotgun during the break-in.
After completing his prison term, Turner will serve three years of supervised release. There is no parole available in the federal system.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Montgomery Police Department investigated the case. Assistant United States Attorneys Michelle R. Turner and Chelsea Wilson prosecuted it.
