ICE Charleston, along with the FBI, U.S. Marshals Service, U.S. Secret Service, and West Virginia State Police, arrested Cody Smith in Clarksburg, West Virginia. Smith is accused of making threats to kill ICE officers.
According to Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), on January 16, Smith called the ICE Tip Line and threatened violence against ICE agents in Clarksburg. The call included explicit language and references to both ICE and former President Trump.
The U.S. Secret Service later found a video on Smith’s Instagram page showing him making similar threats during a phone call.
On January 22, law enforcement executed a federal search warrant at Smith’s residence in Clarksburg. Authorities arrested Smith and seized his cellphone as part of the investigation.

HSI is committed to actively pursuing anyone who threatens the brave agents and officers who protect our communities. We will work tirelessly to investigate these threats and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.”
