U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has issued an arrest detainer for Jesus Ruben Lopez Gonzalez, a member of the Tren de Aragua gang, following his recent arrest in Oregon by the U.S. Marshals Service. Lopez Gonzalez, originally from Venezuela, is accused of various crimes across several states.
According to ICE, Lopez Gonzalez was taken into custody on February 17, 2026, for charges related to weapon offenses and racketeering conspiracy. His criminal record includes theft, assault, illegal possession of a firearm, and obstructing law enforcement in New York, Washington, and Oregon.
He is also one of 27 individuals charged in a 38-count superseding indictment targeting members of Anti-Tren, an offshoot of the Tren de Aragua organization. The indictment includes allegations such as racketeering conspiracy, murder in aid of racketeering linked to a double homicide in the Bronx on April 15, 2024, kidnapping in aid of racketeering, and sex trafficking.
Authorities stated that Lopez Gonzalez last entered the United States illegally on September 11, 2022. He was apprehended by Border Patrol but later released into the country under the Biden administration.
Deputy Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis commented: “The Biden administration RELEASED this gang member into our communities. His cross-country crime spree ends today. He will face justice for his crimes including sex trafficking, illegal possession of a firearm, assault, and obstruction of law enforcement. Then, he will be REMOVED and NEVER able to return to our country.”
In January 2025, President Donald J. Trump signed an executive order designating Tren de Aragua as a Foreign Terrorist Organization.
During President Trump’s first year in office, the Department of Homeland Security reported more than 7,000 gang member arrests.
Under Secretary Noem’s leadership at ICE, efforts have been increased to remove individuals identified as threats to public safety from U.S. communities.
