Hughes County man pleads guilty to illegal firearm possession

A resident of Holdenville, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to illegally possessing a firearm and ammunition. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that Lariat Wayne Jagger, 32, admitted to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. This offense carries a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

According to court documents, Jagger was found with a 12-gauge pump action shotgun and 13 rounds of 12-gauge ammunition on July 2, 2025. He had previously been convicted of an offense punishable by more than one year in prison.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives along with the Hughes County Sheriff’s Office.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Gerald L. Jackson accepted Jagger's plea and ordered a presentence investigation report. Sentencing will be determined by a U.S. District Court Judge after reviewing federal sentencing guidelines and other relevant factors.

Jagger is currently held by the United States Marshals Service until his sentencing hearing.
