U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has placed an arrest detainer on Yordan Basilio Diaz Vera, a Cuban national accused of sexually assaulting a Lyft passenger in Louisville, Kentucky. According to authorities, Diaz Vera was arrested by local police after allegedly kidnapping and sodomizing a mother of four while working as a rideshare driver on February 4.
Local news sources report that Diaz Vera picked up the woman for a scheduled ride to a doctor’s appointment. He then drove her to a parking lot, locked the car doors, and produced a firearm from the glove compartment. He is accused of moving into the backseat and committing sexual assault. The charges against him include sodomy, menacing, and kidnapping.
“Yordan Basilio Diaz Vera was released into our communities under the Biden administration before he went onto to brutally sodomize a mother of four at gunpoint in Louisville. This criminal illegal alien is a monster who has no right to be in our country and this crime was entirely preventable,” said Deputy Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis. “We have lodged an arrest detainer requesting local authorities notify ICE law enforcement instead of RELEASING this predator from jail into Louisville neighborhoods. President Trump and Secretary Noem will not allow sexual predator illegal aliens to roam free in America.”
Diaz Vera reportedly entered the United States illegally in November 2022 during the Biden administration and was subsequently released into the country.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) emphasized its ongoing efforts to protect communities from similar incidents. The agency also reminded victims of crimes committed by undocumented immigrants that support services are available through the Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement (VOICE) Office.
