Three men from Washington, D.C. have been indicted on charges related to a series of armed carjackings and robberies that took place in June 2025. The defendants, Myandre Starnes, 22, Darius Irby, 19, and Andre Whitfield, 17, were arraigned on February 12, 2026 before Judge Errol Arthur.
U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro stated: “The indictment returned on a 17-year-old and his co-conspirators for robbing delivery drivers at gunpoint, sends a clear message that if you commit a crime in D.C., you will be held accountable, regardless of age. The violent crime in this city has got to stop and my office will continue to pursue justice and ensure the safety of our city.”
Whitfield is being prosecuted as an adult under Title 16. Starnes faces nine counts each of armed carjacking and armed robbery along with other related charges. Irby and Whitfield are charged with eight counts each of armed carjacking and armed robbery plus additional offenses. Each defendant could face a mandatory minimum sentence of fifteen years for every count of armed carjacking if convicted.
According to evidence presented by prosecutors, the group allegedly carried out at least nine incidents between June 7 and June 12, 2025 across the District. Their primary targets were delivery drivers operating motorized scooters who were reportedly robbed at gunpoint of their vehicles and personal items.
The Metropolitan Police Department is leading the investigation into these events. Interim Chief Jeffery Carroll joined U.S. Attorney Pirro in announcing the charges. Assistant U.S. Attorney Courtney Scholz is handling the prosecution.
Authorities emphasized that an indictment is only an allegation and all accused individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
