House Science, Space, and Technology Committee Chairman Brian Babin has voiced his support for the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics’ (AIAA) proposal to host a future International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in the United States.
In a letter sent recently, Babin emphasized the growing significance of international collaboration in space activities. He wrote, "As space activities expand in scope, complexity, and geopolitical importance, the role of the IAC as a neutral, international convening platform has never been more critical."
Babin also pointed to AIAA’s standing within the aerospace community. "AIAA is the world’s largest professional society dedicated to the aerospace enterprise and a longstanding, trusted partner of the International Astronautical Federation (IAF)," he stated. He added that "over decades of engagement with the IAF, AIAA has demonstrated sustained leadership, technical credibility, and an exceptional record of successfully organizing prior IACs that brought together government, industry, academia, and international partners at the highest levels."
He urged the International Astronautical Federation to seriously consider AIAA’s bid.
