Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a phone conversation with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah on March 5, 2026. According to Principal Deputy Spokesperson Tommy Pigott, Secretary Rubio offered condolences for the deaths of two members of the Kuwaiti Armed Forces and others who have been killed or injured.
Rubio also thanked Kuwait for its consistent response to attacks and threats originating from Iran. The discussion included ongoing U.S. operations aimed at countering those threats and addressed other regional developments.
"Secretary Rubio conveyed his condolences for the loss of two members of the Kuwaiti Armed Forces and others who have been killed and injured. The Secretary expressed gratitude to the Foreign Minister for Kuwait’s steadfast response to attacks and threats from the Iranian regime. They also discussed ongoing U.S. operations to counter those threats, as well as other developments in the region," said Pigott.
