Kenneth Kazuichi Arasato, Jr., a 63-year-old resident of Mililani, Hawaii, was sentenced on Mar. 10 to 63 months in federal prison and five years of supervised release for possessing child pornography, according to United States Attorney Ken Sorenson. Arasato was also ordered to pay $3,000 in restitution to an identified victim.

The case highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to address crimes involving the exploitation of children online. The sentencing follows Arasato's guilty plea on August 28, 2025, to a two-count indictment related to possession of child pornography.

According to information presented at sentencing, Arasato used encrypted communications platforms and password-protected vault applications on his cellular phone in an attempt to conceal his activities. Authorities found that he possessed more than 200 images of child pornography, including images depicting an infant and other prepubescent minors.

The Department of Homeland Security's Homeland Security Investigations led the investigation into the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Mohammad Khatib prosecuted the matter.

This prosecution is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse. The program brings together federal, state, and local resources to locate and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet and works to identify and rescue victims.
