Nacogdoches County felon sentenced to federal prison for firearms violation

A Nacogdoches resident, William Charles Fincher, was sentenced on March 10 to 78 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs.

The sentencing highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement and the Department of Justice to address firearms violations and protect communities from violent crime.

Court records show that in July 2024, local law enforcement responded to a domestic disturbance at Fincher’s residence in Nacogdoches. During their response, officers found multiple firearms at the home. Further investigation determined that Fincher is a convicted felon and is prohibited under federal law from possessing firearms or ammunition.

U.S. District Judge Marcia A. Crone handed down the sentence following Fincher's guilty plea. The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives along with the Nacogdoches Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Donald S. Carter prosecuted the case.

This prosecution falls under Operation Take Back America, an initiative that uses resources from the Department of Justice to combat illegal immigration, eliminate cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protect communities from violent crime.

The outcome reflects continued collaboration between federal and local agencies as part of broader efforts to enforce laws related to firearms possession by convicted felons.
