Gallatin County man sentenced to over 10 years for child pornography distribution

David Vonarb, a 26-year-old resident of Warsaw, Kentucky, was sentenced on March 13 to 132 months in prison for distributing child pornography. The sentence was handed down by Chief U.S. District Judge David Bunning.

The case highlights ongoing efforts by federal authorities to address the distribution of child sexual exploitation material online. According to court documents, Vonarb engaged in direct messaging with an undercover FBI employee on June 13, 2024, using an encrypted application under the username "dirtydad69." During these conversations and subsequent activity in various chatrooms, Vonarb distributed at least 13 videos and eight images depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Law enforcement identified Vonarb as the user behind the account and executed a search warrant at his residence on October 23, 2024. He admitted to using the encrypted application to receive, view, and distribute child pornography as recently as the day before the search. A forensic review of his laptop uncovered evidence of thousands of images and videos containing child pornography.

Under federal law, Vonarb is required to serve at least 85 percent of his prison term. After completing his sentence, he will be supervised by the U.S. Probation Office for a period of 25 years.

Paul McCaffrey, First Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky, and Olivia Olson, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Louisville Field Office, jointly announced the sentencing. The investigation was conducted by the FBI and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kyle Winslow.

The prosecution was part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in 2006 by the Department of Justice aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse through coordinated efforts among federal, state, and local agencies.
