U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced on Mar. 16 that its officers arrested several individuals convicted of serious crimes, including murder, rape, and child cruelty, across the country over the weekend.

The announcement highlights ICE's ongoing efforts to remove individuals with criminal convictions from American communities. The agency said these actions are part of its commitment to public safety despite a reported increase in threats and assaults against its officers.

According to Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis, "While Americans were enjoying their weekends, the brave men and women of ICE were arresting criminal illegal alien murderers, rapists, child abusers, and other scumbags. Instead of thanking ICE officers for their heroism, sanctuary politicians continue to peddle false narratives in order to demonize our brave law enforcement. Even while facing a 1,300% increase in assaults and a more than 8,000% increase in death threats, ICE will not back down until America is safe again."

Among those arrested were Leoncio Perez-Rueda from Cuba (convicted of murder in Texas), Javier Gonzalez-Garcia from Mexico (voluntary manslaughter in North Carolina), Miguel Vitinio-Tapia from Mexico (rape in New York), Perfecto Rios-Sanchez from Mexico (second-degree rape in North Carolina), Eduardo Temoxtle-Calihua from Mexico (child cruelty and DUI in Idaho), Salomon Ramirez-Ramirez from Guatemala (aggravated battery with a deadly weapon in Florida), Rafael Pena-Estevez from Cuba (aggravated assault in Georgia), Adela Abigail Noriega-Garcia from Mexico (assault causing bodily injury in Texas), Biruk Demessie Woldetsadik from Ethiopia (firearm offenses and assault with a dangerous weapon in Washington D.C.), Gabriel Pichazaca-Juncal from Ecuador (assault by auto in New Jersey), Osbert Bonilla-Padilla from El Salvador (battery and multiple DUIs in Nevada), Rogelio Aguilar from Mexico (assault causing bodily injury and failure to identify himself properly in Texas), Carlos Romero-Rodriguez from Colombia (robbery in New York), Evgenii Igorevich Sadrislamov from Russia (possession of explosives by a felon and drug offenses in Pennsylvania), and Marco Antonio Sanchez-Garcia from Mexico (possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine in California).

ICE stated that Americans can find more information about public safety threats arrested within their communities on the agency's website.
