Chance Allen Cathey, a 36-year-old resident of Tom, Oklahoma, pleaded guilty on Mar. 16 to one count of transporting a stolen vehicle, according to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. The charge carries a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The case is significant as it involves the interstate transportation of stolen property, which is a federal offense. According to the indictment, Cathey transported a stolen motor vehicle from Oklahoma to Arkansas on December 26, 2023, knowing that the vehicle was stolen.

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Arkansas State Police, and Little River County Sheriff’s Office in Arkansas. Magistrate Judge Gerald L. Jackson accepted Cathey's plea and ordered a presentence investigation report.

Sentencing will be determined by a U.S. District Court Judge after reviewing the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors. Cathey will remain in custody until sentencing is complete.
