Marcos Jimeniz-Gonzalez, a Mexican national, was sentenced on March 19 to 30 months in federal prison for illegally reentering the United States. U.S. District Judge Wendy W. Berger handed down the sentence after Jimeniz-Gonzalez pleaded guilty on December 11, 2025, according to an announcement by U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe.
Jimeniz-Gonzalez was discovered in the United States on April 13, 2025, following his arrest by local authorities for driving under the influence and operating a vehicle without a valid driver license. Court records show that he had previously been deported multiple times between 2008 and 2020 and had not received permission from immigration authorities to return.
Authorities said Jimeniz-Gonzalez has a prior conviction for illegal entry into the United States as well as two previous convictions for illegal reentry. After his most recent arrest, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office notified Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which confirmed through its records that Jimeniz-Gonzalez is a citizen of Mexico with no legal status in the country. Further checks revealed he had entered the United States illegally at least four times and had been deported each time.
The case was investigated by ICE and Removal Operations (ERO) and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Chuck Griffith.
This prosecution is part of Operation Take Back America, described as a nationwide initiative using Department of Justice resources to address illegal immigration, target cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protect communities from violent crime.
