Fort Myers man sentenced to 12 years for child sexual abuse material offenses

John James Adducci, a 41-year-old resident of Fort Myers, was sentenced on Mar. 24 to 12 years in federal prison for possessing, accessing with intent to view, and receiving images and videos depicting the sexual abuse of children. U.S. District Judge Sheri Polster Chappell handed down the sentence after Adducci pleaded guilty on December 1, 2025. He will also serve a life term of supervised release and must register as a sex offender.

U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe announced the sentencing, highlighting the seriousness of crimes involving child sexual exploitation.

According to court documents, between February 2023 and June 2025, Adducci searched for and downloaded child sexual abuse material from the internet and accessed sites on the dark web offering such content. On December 13, 2023, he knowingly received this material from a website he visited via the dark web.

Federal Bureau of Investigation agents executed a search warrant at Adducci’s residence in June 2025 and seized multiple electronic devices including cellphones, laptops, USB drives, and external hard drives. Forensic analysis revealed thousands of images and videos depicting child sexual abuse. Adducci admitted that he lived alone and no one else had access to his devices.

The case was investigated by the FBI’s Fort Myers Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force with assistance from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Yolande G. Viacava prosecuted the case.

This prosecution is part of Project Safe Childhood—a nationwide initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006—to combat child sexual exploitation through coordination among federal, state, and local agencies.
