The House of Representatives advanced a set of bipartisan measures on Mar. 24 aimed at improving U.S. aviation and airport infrastructure, federal building safety and efficiency, broadband access in rural areas, water protection efforts, and American job creation.

These legislative actions are intended to address multiple national priorities including modernizing transportation systems, supporting economic development in underserved regions, safeguarding critical resources like water, and encouraging domestic job growth.

Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Sam Graves said, “The House approved fourteen important bipartisan bills today that will strengthen our infrastructure in a number of ways, including commonsense improvements to our aviation system, expanding broadband access for rural Americans, lowering costs for federal buildings, protecting our water resources, and bringing jobs back to the United States.” Graves also thanked committee members for their leadership on these issues.

Ranking Member Rick Larsen added: “Today’s slate of bills passed under suspension will support aviation safety and innovation, examine the increase in drone incursions during wildfire response, and help make federal building renovation and construction more affordable. I'm glad the T&I Committee's bipartisan work could reach the finish line with floor passage of these bills. Thanks to Ranking Members Greg Stanton and Dina Titus for their leadership.”

Among the measures passed were: H.R. 3410 directing updates to regulations allowing civil supersonic flight; H.R. 6267 commissioning a study on digital documentation in aviation supply chains; H.R. 6427 permitting certain airports to use state standards for pavement projects; H.R. 6460 clarifying rules for recreational drone use; H.R. 2247 allowing pilots digital certificate options; several acts reauthorizing or expanding EPA geographic programs focused on water restoration such as the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative Act; legislation evaluating satellite technology for Appalachian broadband projects; new protocols for emergency notifications in federal buildings; authorization of events honoring law enforcement officers at Capitol Grounds; provisions prioritizing domestic manufacturing relocation through the Made in America Jobs Act; among others.

The comprehensive package reflects ongoing congressional efforts to update regulatory frameworks across sectors while maintaining safety standards. The next steps involve Senate consideration or implementation by relevant agencies.
