Jury convicts Tampa resident for sending Instagram death threat

A federal jury has convicted Elizabeth Danielle Rowe, also known as Simon Roe, of transmitting an interstate threat to injure, according to a Mar. 26 announcement by United States Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe. Rowe, age 25 and from Tampa, faces up to five years in federal prison with sentencing scheduled for June 24.

The case centers on a message sent via Instagram on January 24, 2025. Evidence presented at trial showed that Rowe messaged New York resident A.A., stating: “I am coming to kill you. I will kill your pets first while you watch. Die c*nt.” The victim did not recognize the account and immediately informed her family about the message before seeking protective services from security personnel.

Authorities said that around the same time as the threatening message to A.A., Rowe sent several other threatening messages to different Instagram users. In additional messages, Rowe admitted being banned for messaging certain individuals: "banned for dming [Zionists] telling them to kill themselves.”

The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Joint Terrorism Task Force investigated the case. Assistant United States Attorney Risha Asokan is prosecuting it.

Rowe's sentencing will determine whether she serves time in federal prison or receives another penalty under federal law.
