Blueroot Health announced on March 27 a voluntary recall of two lots of its Vital Nutrients Aller-C dietary supplements because they may contain undeclared egg, hazelnut, and soy. The company said the affected products could pose a risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions for people with allergies or sensitivities to these ingredients.
The recall affects Aller-C supplements distributed nationwide through VitalNutrients.co and other online retailers. The product comes in white plastic bottles containing either 100 or 200 capsules, with lot numbers 25E04-A and 25E04-B and an expiration date of May 2027 printed on the side.
According to Blueroot Health, the presence of these allergens was discovered during routine internal testing. The company promptly reported its findings to the Food and Drug Administration. No illnesses related to this product have been reported so far.
Consumers who purchased the recalled supplement are advised to stop using it immediately and return it to Blueroot Health for a replacement. For further questions, customers can contact Blueroot Health at (888) 328-9992 Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 7:00pm, or email support@vitalnutrients.co.
The company said it is taking this action out of caution for consumer safety.
