Rabbi Schneerson is recognized as one of modern America's most influential Jewish leaders. After fleeing Nazi persecution in 1941, he led the Chabad-Lubavitch movement in America, expanding it into a global force for faith and service. The statement notes that under his leadership, "this small Hasidic community grew into a global force for faith and service that, after the Holocaust, reinvigorated Judaism worldwide and continues to touch millions of hearts across the globe."
The President said his administration is working to advance Schneerson's vision by restoring educational standards focused on purpose, service, virtue, civic engagement, and foundational American values. The proclamation adds: "We are bringing back common sense to our classrooms and ending left-wing indoctrination of our students—ensuring that our schools foster excellence... We are removing educational control from the hands of unelected bureaucrats... returning it to States... local communities... parents." Efforts are also underway "to eradicate the scourge of anti-Semitism from our society," according to the statement.
As part of Education and Sharing Day observances during America's 250th year since independence, leaders call for continued commitment to moral courage and freedom. The statement concludes: "Above all, we reaffirm that America will forever be one Nation guided by the eternal wisdom and providence of the Almighty."
