Schreiber Foods recalls cream cheese spread due to undeclared almonds

ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

Schreiber Foods, Inc announced on Mar. 28 a voluntary recall of 144 cases of Honey Almond Cream Cheese Spread because the product may contain undeclared almonds. The company said people with almond allergies or severe sensitivities could face serious or life-threatening reactions if they consume the affected product.

The recalled cream cheese was distributed to Einstein Bros. Bagel store locations in Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, and Wyoming. The product comes in a 6-ounce plastic cup labeled as Einstein Bros. Bagels, with a Honey Almond lid but a Plain cup. The lot code on the bottom reads "Best If Used By Jul 21, 2026 LO".

No illnesses related to this issue have been reported so far. Schreiber Foods said the recall was initiated after it discovered some products had mismatched lids and cups—the lid correctly listed Honey Almond while the cup incorrectly stated Plain, which does not contain almonds.

According to Schreiber Foods, an investigation found that the incident resulted from a limited packaging staging issue that has since been corrected and confirmed as isolated to this specific product.

Consumers who purchased Einstein Bros. Brand Honey Almond Cream Cheese Spread with the specified lot code and mismatched packaging are encouraged to return it for a full refund at their place of purchase. Customers with questions can contact Schreiber Foods through their website.
