Crips gang member pleads guilty to March 2021 Bronx murder

Jay Clayton, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York | Department of Justice

Alieu Jarjou, also known as "Scally" and "Lu Scally," pleaded guilty on Apr. 3 before U.S. District Judge Edgardo Ramos to charges related to his involvement with the Rollin 20s set of the Crips gang, including the murder of Jadon Robinson in March 2021, according to an announcement by United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York Jay Clayton.

This case highlights ongoing concerns about violent street gangs and their impact on public safety in New York communities. Authorities say such organizations are responsible for a range of crimes that threaten residents.

According to Clayton, "On March 9, 2021, Alieu Jarjou shot and killed 30-year-old Jadon Robinson on a busy Bronx street in the middle of the day. Jarjou committed this brutal murder to enhance his status within the Rollin 20s Crips, a violent street gang that has terrorized our communities through senseless violence and drug trafficking. There is stark reality that we need to face: for gangs like the Crips, murder is a part of business, and for gang members, murder is a status symbol. Those who tolerate, or worse, celebrate gang culture could not be more out of touch. New York families want gangs dismantled and their murderous members off the streets. The women and men of our Office are committed to relentlessly pursuing all gangs that threaten the safety of New Yorkers.”

Court documents state that from at least January 2021 through January 2022 Jarjou was an active member of the Rollin 20s Crips in Bronx County. The group engaged in murders, assaults, threats of violence, and narcotics trafficking—including selling oxycodone and marijuana—to fund operations and maintain control over territory.

Jarjou admitted he shot Robinson after learning Robinson was suspected of assaulting another member of his gang; prosecutors said this act was retaliation meant to protect their interests.

Jarjou pleaded guilty to one count each: racketeering conspiracy involving murder (maximum sentence life imprisonment) and using/possessing a firearm during a crime (maximum life sentence; mandatory minimum ten years). Sentencing is scheduled for August 18.

Clayton praised investigative work by NYPD officers involved in building this case. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Christy Slavik and Jim Ligtenberg are prosecuting.
