The Federal Trade Commission announced on Apr. 3 the publication of its Strategic Plan for fiscal years 2026 through 2030, outlining the agency's priorities and direction for the next five years.

The release of this plan is important because it sets out how the FTC will pursue its mission to promote competition and protect consumers. The document details the agency’s mission, vision, and goals, and establishes metrics to measure progress over time.

According to the FTC, updates to the strategic plan followed an extensive review process involving both agency staff and public feedback collected during a comment period last fall. The Commission approved the new plan by a vote of two to zero.

The FTC said it continues its work "to promote competition, and protect and educate consumers." The statement also reminded people that "the FTC will never demand money, make threats, tell you to transfer money, or promise you a prize."

Consumers are encouraged by the agency to learn more about consumer topics or report scams online at ReportFraud.ftc.gov. The FTC also invites members of the public to follow its activities through social media channels, blogs, and press releases.
