Executive Assistant Commissioner Diane J. Sabatino shared a series of updates on border security operations and technology conducted by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers in early April 2026.
On April 3, Sabatino reported the seizure of narcotics at the Laredo Port of Entry, stating, "STOPPED AT THE PORT – Laredo POE Scan. Alert. Seized. Inside a commercial box truck’s cab, officers located 11 concealed packages containing 23.98 lbs of cocaine and 2.33 lbs of heroin. #OFOproud".
The following day, she highlighted the use of advanced screening technology by CBP officers: "Where security meets tech, every scan keeps America safe. CBP officers use non-intrusive inspection equipment to see what's inside vehicles and cargo without slowing down trade and travel. Smarter screening. Safer borders. #OFOProud" (April 4).
Later that same day, Sabatino described procedures inside cargo facilities: "Inside cargo facilities, CBP officers inspect shipments, verify contents, and enforce U.S. trade laws. Before goods enter the country, every load is evaluated for risk. #OFOproud" (April 4).
These posts reflect ongoing efforts by CBP to balance efficient cross-border commerce with stringent enforcement against illegal activities such as drug smuggling. The agency routinely employs non-intrusive inspection technologies to screen vehicles and cargo while maintaining the flow of legitimate trade and travel.
