The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced on Apr. 6 that it has designated The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation (BNY) as a financial agent to support the implementation of the new Trump Accounts program.

This designation means BNY will manage the initial accounts and assist in developing a secure, user-friendly app that will allow families to access and manage their Trump Accounts. The move is intended to ensure every eligible child can quickly and easily use these accounts.

BNY has partnered with Robinhood, which will serve as both brokerage and initial trustee for the Trump Accounts. According to Treasury, this partnership aims to streamline account access for families.

The app is being developed specifically for Treasury as a custom, white-label product by The National Design Studio in conjunction with Robinhood. It is designed to provide an intuitive experience so families can explore their Trump Accounts confidently. Treasury said it will retain control over both the app and operations during this initial phase.

Treasury explained that it holds longstanding statutory authority to designate qualified financial institutions as agents who perform fiduciary services for the government. The department maintains strict oversight, performance standards, and security controls in order to safeguard public funds.
